این برد یک شیلد کنترلر پرینتر سه بعدی RAMPS 1.4 برای برد آردوینو مگا 2560  است. با استفاده از این برد و برد آردوینو مگا 2560 سیستم کامل برای ساخت برد کنترل پرینتر سه‌بعدی و یا CNC سه محوره آماده است.
برد RAMPS 1.4 برای کنترل پرینترهای سه بعدی و CNC های سه محور استفاده می‌شود. قابلیت درایور 5 موتور، یک موتور در محور X، یک موتور در محور Y و دو موتور به صورت موازی درمحور Z و یک موتور اکسترودر (اسپیندل) را دارد. با اضافه کردن برد توسعه به آن می‌توان تعداد موتورها را افزایش داد.
از  بردهای درایور استپر موتور DRV8255، A4988، LV8729 و TMC2100 پشتیبانی می‌کند. سه عدد ماسفت برای فن/هیتر در این برد قرار دارد. قابلیت کنترل همه ماسفت‌ها با PWM وجود دارد. واسط برای اتصال سه ترمیستور و سه Limit Switch (Endstop) در برد در نظر گرفته شده است.
این برد تغذیه 12 ولت 5 آمپر لازم دارد. در صورت استفاده از صفحه داغ نیاز به یک تغذیه 12 ولتی دیگر با 11 آمپر جریان هست.  برای حفاظت از قطعات و مدارها، این برد دارای دو فیوز 5 آمپر و یک فیوز 11 آمپر قابل ریست  PTC (PTC Resettable Fuse) است.
امکان اتصال برد نمایشگر LCD به عنوان واسط کاربری وجود دارد. ماژول SD Card را می‌توان به برد اضافه کرد. نشانگر LED برای نمایش وضیت هیترها، رابط استاندارد اکسترودر و واسط I2C و SPI برای توسعه برد از دیگر ویژگی‌های این شیلد کنترلر پرینتر سه بعدی است.

RepRap Ramps 1.4 3D Printer Controller Board

RAMPS 1.4 is a complete controller board for 3D printers and CNC machines.
The RAMPS shield mounts on top of an Arduino MEGA and has sockets for five stepper motor drivers, MOSFET switches for controlling heating elements, fans and other DC loads, power supply with PTC fuses and connectors for limit switches, servos, SD card reader, LCD and more.
Ramps can only work when connected to its mother board Mega 2560 and 4988/DRV8825. Owning to its stability in operation and great compatibility with most 3D printer (all reprap-model such as pursa i2 and i3).
The combination of Ramps1.4 + MEGA2560 + A4988/DRV8825 is becoming a mainstream of DIY 3D printer control board. Additionally, a number of Ard expansion boards can be added to the system as long as the main RAMPS board is kept to the top of the stack.
